Danet Communications has completed a project for upgrading the infrastructure at DataBank’s data center. DataBank specializes in solutions for data protection, backup and disaster recovery. The upgrade was done using advanced solutions from Arista Networks, with the goal of upgrading the network infrastructure to meet future trends and demands.
Implementation was performed as part of application of the SDN approach, managing the network with full automation. Arista’s solution will allow DataBank to benefit from automation in network management and flexible simple scalability as a solution for its clients. The project was executed in collaboration with DANET Communications, a senior affiliate of Arista.
DataBank, which provides BaaS (Backup as a Service) and DR as a Service, operates a data center comprising thousands of physical and virtual servers, using breakthrough technologies, Big Data storage infrastructures, and expansive network infrastructures to be used as a base, enabling hybrid work among DataBank’s server farms and cloud platforms. The project was evaluated at hundreds of thousands of NIS.
According to Oded Shahar, DataBank CEO, “DataBank provides backup and disaster recovery services as managed services for Israel’s largest companies whose top priorities are operational continuity and data protection. Therefore the system we provide has to be reliable and available, supplying the highest performance levels. We are obligated to our clients to be effective, stable, and rapidly scalable in order to respond to the increased demand for services. After an in-depth examination of our options, we found that Arista has given us the answer to all these needs in the best possible way.”
According to Shay Yitzhaki, DataBank’s CTO, “When we examined the technologies available, our threshold demand was that it be an open platform that would allow us to configure our network and support our infrastructural challenges. Choosing Arista and DANET as implementer helped us plan and implement the system successfully. DANET carried out the project while considering added values in terms of TCO (total cost of ownership) and improved user experience for the clients.”
“Due to the increase in demand for DataBank’s services, we needed a new approach to network management. Arista’s solution was chosen because it allows flexibility in terms of automation, advanced monitoring abilities – real time telemetry streaming, and support for advanced Deep Buffer capabilities, allowing data center servers to work with minimal latency while handling micro bursts,” said Benny Falach, CEO of DANET Communications.
